ABOUT LEBANON
Lebanon is a Middle Eastern country lying on the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea. Surrounded by Syria and the occupied Palestinian territories from the eastern, southern, and northern sides, Lebanon enjoys a charming coastline stretching along its western side, a lovely series of mountains with breath-taking sceneries, and an acclaimed pleasant weather all year round. "Switzerland of the East" and "Ruby of the Mediterranean" are among the names it is known for. Lebanon, independent since 1943, counts a population exceeding four million inhabitants and 10 million expatriates spread around the four corners of the globe.
The capital city Beirut is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world and is situated on a hilly promontory on the eastern Mediterranean surrounded to the east by the snow-capped mountains of Lebanon. It is the cultural center of the Arab World and a major international, financial, banking, and media center.
Lebanon packs alot into its modest borders: ancient cities, ski resorts, impressive architecture, vibrant cultural life, and striking landscapes are only the start. Then, there is the great cuisine (reputedly the best in the region) and great nightlife and much much more to be discovered...
